be the best ever?
Every day at EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh is special to those of us hungry for the latest and
greatest: the planes, the people, the events are unlike those found
anywhere else. But each year’s opening day always is "more
special" than the others, and the numerous events, new-product
announcements, and unveilings planned for tomorrow promise to whet

Aviation enthusiasts from
around the world are here or on their way to the 55th annual convention
of the EAA, The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration. Some will
arrive at Wittman Regional Airport for the first time this year, but

showcase, AeroShell Square
AeroShell Square, the
massive ramp in the center of the EAA convention grounds, becomes the
crossroads of the aviation world for one week every year at EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh. No other place on Earth brings together such a rich
and diverse collection of aircraft, and this week, AeroShell Square will
host everything from current military aircraft to magnificent warbirds
from the World War II era. And it’ll have some of the finest vintage
airplanes parked next to the latest aircraft from the world’s top
manufacturers, plus a few surprises that will make your visit

- Happy 60th USAF!
The U.S. Air Force brings
its "Heritage to Horizons" exhibit to EAA AirVenture this year
to mark its 60th anniversary. More than 30 displays fill a
10,000-square-foot pavilion on the grounds, recognizing the notable
people and aircraft that have been part of the USAF’s first 60 years.
In addition, the Air Force Recruiting Command will return to Oshkosh
with its popular "Cross Into The Blue" exhibit. Read

- Federal Pavilion houses
International Federal Partnership agencies
The International Federal Partnership (IFP) will have a record 17
government agencies represented at EAA AirVenture’s Federal Pavilion
this year. The agencies come from Canada, the Bahamas and the United

- Compass Hill rededication
ceremony planned for Wednesday
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
attendees are invited to take part in a special rededication ceremony at
EAA’s Compass Hill, Wednesday, July 25, beginning at 10 a.m. Compass
Hill is a symbol of the love of flight passed down through the
generations. This will become an annual event held during AirVenture.

- Expanded KidVenture
relocates to Pioneer Airport
For the past eight years, EAA’s KidVenture has provided untold
thousands of children with delightful, educational aviation
experiences at its customary location, in the big white tent directly
behind the AirVenture Museum. There’s never been much room for
expansion, however, and the road bordering its eastern edge has
created occasional bottlenecks of buses, gators, golf carts, and other

Techniques Offered
Flight Bright products will be providing do-it-yourself cleaning and
detailing tips for private plane owners at the Flight Bright Booth

Specialty is new AirVenture sponsor
EAA is happy to announce that this year’s Workshops Plaza at

- SportairUSA to preview
TL3000 Sirius LSA
SportairUSA, the North American distributor of the TL 2000 StingSport
S-LSA, will preview a cabin model of the new TL 3000 Sirius at EAA
AirVenture. The high-wing Sirius, manufactured in the Czech Republic,
will be constructed of the same carbon fiber composite materials as
the StingSport, and powered by the Rotax 912 engine series. The
aircraft sports a 48" cabin, and includes room for golf clubs in

EAA has always been about
the enthusiastic exchange of information for the benefit of all who love
flight. EAA AirVenture’s Forums Plaza, supported by Honda Aircraft

legends who come to Oshkosh and share their accumulated knowledge with

- Morning 12-step meetings at
Nature Center
The 12 Step High Meeting, Friends o fBill W. and Lois, will gather
daily through Sunday, July 29, at the EAA Nature
Center under the big white tent. Coffee and
fellowship is from 7-8 a.m., followed by an open
meeting. The 12 Step High Meeting celebrates its 20th
anniversary on Saturday, July 28, with a special speaker and cake at 8

Speaker Showcase presentations
More than 100 presentations will be featured as part of the Museum
Speaker Showcase at the EAA AirVenture Museum this week. Here’s your
opportunity to hear from a wide variety of aviation legends and
historians speaking in great museum locations including the Eagle
Hangar, the Vette Theater, in front of the Wright Flyer, near the
Spirit of St. Louis, in the new SkyScape Theater, or at the
Voyager/SpaceShipOne displays. Read

Homebuilding gets to the heart of EAA, and you can learn just about
every skill you need to build an airplane at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

based on the highly successful and popular EAA SportAir Workshops.
These mini workshops let you experience a taste of aircraft

GlobalAir.com, an online aviation search engine, will host a
celebration open to all attendees of EAA AirVenture at Orion Flight
Services, 525 West 20th Street in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Wednesday
evening, July 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Highlighting the event
will be drawings for a formation flight on vintage DC-3 and Yak
aircraft and an aerobatic Extra 300 flown by air show performer John

AirVenture
Diamond Aircraft will publicly unveil the DA50 Super Star to the North
American market at the company’s exhibit at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

Aircraft Spruce to introduce
2007-2008 catalog
Catering to people in Sport Pilot flight training and the new
breed of Light Sport Aircraft owners, Aircraft Spruce & Specialty
is now stocking an extensive list of LSA pilot supplies, merchandise
and replacement components for aircraft. This includes parts for
leading LSA designs, like the German Ikarus C42 and Breezer, the new

Authors Corner expands to
three locations
EAA’s showcase for dozens of accomplished aviation authors,
Authors Corner, has expanded to include three locations at AirVenture
this year. You can meet and greet writers at its original venue, at
the EAA Wearhouse, plus they’ll also appear at the Skyshoppe located
along the flightline north of the control tower as well as the EAA
AirVenture Museum. Read more
- Lockwood Aircraft to
reintroduce the AirCam
Lockwood Aircraft is a new business formed to manufacture, sell, and
service the twin-engine Air-Cam and the line of Drifter light
aircraft. Read more
- EAA Warbirds in Review
features legendary airplanes and airmen
Warbirds in Review became
part of the EAA AirVenture scene in 2003, bringing a close-up look at
some of the most storied military aircraft to ever darken the skies. An
instant classic, the program immediately expanded from one to two daily
presentations, and this year the program has grown again; a total of 19
presentations are scheduled as Warbirds in Review enters its fifth year

- Young Eagles celebrates 15th
anniversary Wednesday night
EAA Young Eagles will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the program
with a special event Wednesday evening, in the EAA Air Venture Museum’s
Eagle Hangar. Young Eagles pilots, volunteers, and supporters are
invited to begin festivities with a reception at 6 p.m. Meet aviation
notables along with past Young Eagles who are now actively involved in

While EAA AirVenture Oshkosh attracts a lot of pilots, a significant

- New partners bring useful
services to AirVenture attendees
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007 attendees will notice three new retail
stores on-site this year as Gander Mountain, OfficeMax, and Wheel
& Sprocket have partnered with EAA to offer a wide variety of
products to those visiting Oshkosh for the convention. Read

- Changes in AirVenture awards
presentations times, locations
Receiving a prestigious Lindy award at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is a
crowning achievement for aircraft builders, owners, and restorers. In
past years, all of the coveted EAA AirVenture aircraft awards (except
for Warbirds) were presented together on Saturday night at the Theater
in the Woods, but that will change this year. Read

- EAAers to strike up the band
Wednesday night
EAA AirVenture’s first-ever concert band, under the direction of
director Elton L. Eisele, will perform on Wednesday, July 25, to open
that evening’s program at Theater
in the Woods. Eisele put out the call this past spring for
musician members to sign up and play at AirVenture and soon discovered
that EAAers are a talented lot. Read more
- CBS ‘THE EARLY SHOW’
to broadcast live on Wednesday
Attention, early risers… CBS The Early Show
weatherman Dave Price will be broadcasting live from the World’s
Greatest Aviation Celebration on Wednesday morning, July 25, and the
producers of the show are inviting EAAers on the grounds to be a part of
the action. If you’d like to be a part of the broadcast, you have to
get up bright and early to be at AeroShell Square at 5:30 a.m. You might
just be able to wave to your unfortunate friends at home who weren’t
able to make it to Oshkosh this year. The producers asked that those

Rob Mark and Louis Smith of FLTops.com are bringing information
and strategic tips for professional pilots to the NATCA Pavilion at

EAA Sport Aviation
contributor Jim Busha to receive Bax Seat Trophy tonight
EAA Publications contributing writer James P. Busha will receive
the 2007 Bax Seat Trophy tonight at a special ceremony in the EAA
AirVenture Museum. The award, established in 1997, is presented by
Flying Magazine in honor of that magazine’s columnist, Gordon
Baxter, and is given annually to the EAA member who perpetuates Baxter’s
tradition of communicating the excitement and romance of grass-roots

Oshkosh
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is the annual gathering place for aviation
enthusiasts, so it’s only natural that many type clubs also hold

- CubCrafters to announce 2nd
generation airplane
CubCrafters will debut an all new, second
generation light sport airplane on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. at EAA Press
Headquarters. By incorporating the very latest safety features,
construction materials and design improvements, a new standard will be
set in capability, utility, and performance in light sport aircraft
while being fully compliant with all LSA certification regulations, the
company says.
- Dan Patterson to sign books
at National Aviation Heritage Area Booth
Famed aviation
photographer Dan Patterson will be signing copies of his latest
photography books inside the National Aviation Heritage Booth at Air
Venture. The booth is located at 1045-46 in Hangar ‘A’. Dan will be
in the booth on Thursday, July 26, from 9 to 11 a.m., and from 2 to 4
p.m., and on Friday morning, July 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. Read

- NASA invites AirVenture
visitors to join the exploration
NASA’s exhibit at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007 contrasts four
centuries of ingenuity—from the Jamestown colony in Virginia to the
habitat envisioned for the next humans who set foot on the moon. What’s
the connection? The talent required at Jamestown in 1607 is comparable
with the intelligence and flexibility that will be demanded of the
next explorers living on the moon for extended stays, beginning in

Aircraft (LSA) Mall this year. Located just south of AeroShell Square,

including factory-built and amateur-built experimental models as well as
