First AirVenture
visitor-submitted video contest
One of the really cool things about EAA’s new online video player is
the ability for members to upload and share their own videos. We’re going
to give that capability a thorough workout during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
2007, as we announce the first EAA AirVenture Video Competition.
Participate and you could win a new Canon HV20 high definition
camcorder!
"What we want to do
is capture the unique spirit, culture, and identity of the event as seen
through the eyes of the people who attend," said Adam Smith, EAA
vice president of membership. "The ability to have people load
their own videos to the AirVenture website and actually be part of how
we present their event will help infuse the whole thing with the
personal voice of EAAers."
AirVenture’s video
player currently has several uploaded, member-submitted segments
available from last year’s convention that may give participants some
ideas of what they want to submit. Visit www.AirVenture.org
and click on the link to more AirVenture videos.
Quilt show today in
Oshkosh
The Lakeside Quilters of Oshkosh Wisconsin are hosting the annual EAA
Quilter’s Gathering on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oshkosh
Senior Center Annex, 200 N. Campbell St., Oshkosh. There will be a quilt
show of guild members’ work, door prizes, a raffle quilt, quilt items
made by members for sale, a market place, a take-and-make, and a
show-and-share open to all members and guests.
AirVenture.org adds
multimedia
Recognizing that some people aren’t able to attend the big event, EAA
has revamped its www.AirVenture.org
website by adding audio slideshows, EAA radio, daily photo galleries,
editor blogs, and the brand new BrightCove video player, offering EAA
members the opportunity to submit their own videos.
Visitors of the site are
now able to watch top highlights of the day, plus new product
announcements, selected forum presentations, exclusive interviews,
flight demos, air show performers, and even a few surprises.
AirVenture attendees can now access these
new features via WiFi access points located in Camp Scholler, the North
40, Showplane camping areas, and Paul’s woods. The Internet Café with
PCs and laptops is also offered to EAA members in the Membership
Village. To experience these exciting new features, visit www.AirVenture.org.
Authors Corner expands
EAA’s showcase for dozens of accomplished aviation authors, Authors
Corner, has expanded to include three locations at AirVenture this year.
You can meet and greet writers at its original venue, at the EAA
Wearhouse, plus they’ll also appear at the SkyShoppe located along the
flightline north of the control tower as well as the EAA AirVenture
Museum.
At Authors Corner, you
can learn about personal flight experiences, biographies and
autobiographies, inspirational stories, or just fun and entertainment.
There’s art, fiction, how-to books, and children’s titles, all
represented among the three locations.
Look for the daily
schedule of appearances in AirVenture Today, or visit www.AirVenture.org
and search the Presentations and Workshops schedule. |
