More than 120 Women in
Aviation International (WAI) members attended WAI’s Celebrity
Breakfast Friday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn. Special guests
included John and Martha King, who announced that every member attending
WAI’s 2008 Conference in San Diego will receive complimentary access
to the Kings’ online Jet Transition course, a donation valued at more
than $1 million.
Other notable attendees
included air show pilots Julie Clark, Patty Wagstaff, and the AeroShell
Aerobatic Team. Even FAA Administrator Marion Blakey made an appearance
and remarked, "When I see the men here in this room supporting and
participating in WAI, I know you are on the right track as an
organization."
Dr. Chabrian announced
that Dan Gryder of Griffin, Georgia, donated several seats in his Herpa
Toys-sponsored DC-3 as well as invitations to a catered party at
AirVenture. This was the fifth year Chevron Global Aviation sponsored
the event.
WAI’s March 13-15,
2008, conference features a pre-conference WAI Military Day including
Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine aircraft on static display at the North
Island Naval Base, along with a U.S. Coast Guard air/water demonstration
and a tour of an aircraft carrier.
