Gary Ward

Gary WardGary Ward, a native and resident of Lincolnton, GA, developed an early interest in airplanes, took flying lessons and soloed shortly after his 16th birthday. Although he has never flown as a professional or military pilot, he has always been an active and passionate pilot. After high school and an enlisted tour of duty with the USAF, he graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Aerospace Engineering. He worked as an engineer on the Cessna Citation for Cessna for about a year before "switching hats" to work in a family operated lumber manufacturing business.

Gary's involvement in hard core aerobatics came quite a while later when he and a friend acquired a wrecked Pitts S2-B and had it rebuilt. The aerobatic "fire" was lit and soon he acquired a Giles 202. Meanwhile, another aerobatic friend led him first into competition and then into air shows. He flew his first few shows in the Pitts then performed in the G-202 for 7 years. In early 2006, Gary started flying his new MX2 which is the latest entry into the field of high performance monoplanes.

"My involvement in aerobatics and air shows was not planned, but I can say it has been one of the most rewarding ventures in my life. I am grateful to those friends who have encouraged me in this endeavor. I truly love this type flying, I love the travel, and I especially love the involvement with the people; spectators, fans, show organizers and other performers."
