Chandy Clanton
Chandy Clanton is not your average air show performer:
She is a twelve year veteran in the air show business;
she is a world class aerobatic competitor who has represented the USA at
the World Aerobatic Championships; she is type rated in the high-tech Lear
Jet and the vintage DC-3; she is a mentor to young aerobatic pilots; she is
the daughter of an aviator and an aviatrix; and she is the mother of two
future aviators. She flies an incredible air
show routine. Chandy is a two-time member of the United States
Unlimited Aerobatic team and flew at the 2003 World Championships held in Lakeland, Florida.
She also was selected to be a member of the EAA AirVenture “Stars
of
Tomorrow” performing before hundreds of thousands of spectators at Oshkosh. Chandy
was the only woman to be named to the “Stars” team. Chandy has been seen
on many TV news broadcasts as well as Discovery Wings programs that have
highlighted the best pilots in the aerobatic world.
Chandy has honed her amazing flying talent using the same
disciplined training system that made her a highly successful collegiate
competitive swimmer. Chandy's combination of youthful exuberance,
attractiveness, and articulate poise forge an unbeatable presentation that always
incites the interest and admiration of the news media and the public.
Chandy is a gifted pilot who has flown many types of aircraft
including the Piper Cub, P51 Mustang, Lear Jet, Beech King Air, numerous light
twins, and countless high performance single engine airplanes. She is an
accomplished well-rounded aviator who earned a type rating in the Lear 24
with only 400 hours of flight time in her logbook. These airplane experiences
are secondary to Chandy's true passion for flight: Extreme Precision
Aerobatics. Chandy has flown the Christen Eagle, Extra 200 and 300L, One
Design, Pitts Specials, and the Russian Sukhoi. Chandy's current airplane is
the awesome state-of-the-art 340-horsepower Edge 540 built by Zivko
Aeronautics.
