Accommodations
There are accommodations on all levels available to EAA AirVenture visitors; however, the demand in certain areas (such as hotels in Oshkosh) is very high.  Camping on the EAA grounds is always an available option, as are some others:

  • Hotels: There are thousands of hotel and motel rooms within an hour's drive of Oshkosh. For hotels closest to the event, especially in Oshkosh, you should anticipate premium rates, as well as minimum reservation and pre-payment requirements.  Most hotels in Oshkosh are booked year to year by EAA AirVenture attendees, but there are many others to choose from. To learn about available hotel and motel options, call the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau's housing hotline at 920-235-3007, or click here to see a regularly updated listing of hotel availability.
  • Camping/drive-in: Camp Scholler is conveniently located on the EAA Convention grounds. Individual campsites are available for tents and vehicles of all sizes (including large RVs). Three-night minimum. No pre-registration is needed for Camp Scholler, and camping may be purchased in advance. Sites (including a limited number with electric and water hookups) are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, but plenty of sites are available. NOTE: At least one person in each camping unit must be an EAA member, but memberships are available at Camp Scholler entrance.
  • Dormitories: More than 3,000 dormitory rooms are available at colleges in Oshkosh, Appleton, Fond du Lac and Ripon, and at Valley Christian School in Oshkosh.  Prices and accommodations vary.
  • Private Housing: Hundreds of private homes are available to rent during the event, all within 10 miles of the EAA Convention site. Call the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau's housing hotline at 920-235-3007 to reserve an entire house or a room in someone's home. The Oshkosh CVB website contains detailed listings and photographs of all available homes.

Activity Center
Located just east of the Forum Pavilions. Includes various activities, including Craft Tent, Aircraft greeters volunteers, Flying Cinema, and hospitality area.  Schedule for each area is available at the location.

Aeromart
Aeromart is a consignment area that features spare aircraft parts of all types located just south and west of Exhibit Hangar D. Consignments are accepted at the beginning of AirVenture and throughout the week. EAA retains a portion of the sale price to operate the area and upgrade displays, etc.

Air Show
The daily air show is held each afternoon beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. (2 p.m. on Sunday) and lasts for about 3½ hours.  It features a wide variety of aircraft and performers. The minute-by-minute schedule of performances is set each day, and is subject to change without notice. Grass seating is available along the flight line. Blankets and lawn chairs are allowed; however, they cannot be left unattended.  Individual performers are escorted along the crowd line after their flights to acknowledge the crowd’s appreciation.

Aircraft Repair
Emergency Aircraft Repair is located south of the Vintage Camping area, next to the Hangar Café along the flight line.  Maintained by EAA Chapter 75, this area has tools and other supplies for basic aircraft repairs.  For major repairs, aircraft maintenance personnel and FBOs on the airport can be recommended.

Airline Discounts

  • Frontier: Frontier Airlines is offering special air fare discounts for EAA members and other aviation enthusiasts flying into select Wisconsin cities and planning to attend EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2011.
  • Lufthansa: Lufthansa German Airlines offers a comprehensive global route network linking Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with major cities around the world. As the Official European Airline to AirVenture 2011, Lufthansa offers special prices and conditions to all attendees.

EAA will announce any additional airline discounts offers as they are finalized.

Airplane Rides
Flight are available to the public on three EAA aircraft during AirVenture: The Bell 47 helicopter, based at Pioneer Airport; the 1929 Ford Tri-Motor, based at the north end of Runway 18/36, near the Warbirds area; and the B-17 “Flying Fortress,” which is based at Outagamie Regional Airport in Appleton (20 miles north, shuttles provided).  Rates and times of these flights vary, and the most popular dates and times sell out quickly.

AirVenture Cup
This cross-country timed air race for eight classes of homebuilt aircraft takes place before opening of AirVenture. The race begins at a different location each year with a finish line outside of Oshkosh. The airplanes then continue to Oshkosh and will park along the flight line, east of the West Ramp. Pilots are required to pre-register for the race.

AirVenture Today
The official daily newspaper of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is free of charge and available from boxes located throughout the grounds. Newspaper articles are also published to the AirVenture website.

Alcohol
No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the AirVenture public areas or along the flight line. Security will confiscate alcoholic beverages found in these areas.  Alcohol is allowed in individual campsites in Camp Scholler and aircraft camping.  There is also a wide variety of restaurants and bars near Wittman Regional Airport and in Oshkosh that welcome AirVenture visitors.

ATMs
Available throughout the grounds, including at the Wearhouse and SkyShoppe merchandise buildings.

Author’s Corner
Located in the EAA Wearhouse, this area features aviation authors and their published works.  You can meet the authors, and have them sign their books. A daily schedule of authors will also be located in the EAA Wearhouse and printed in EAA AirVenture Today.

Awards
Aircraft awards are made in 11 categories following judging throughout the week.  Judging standards are available online. Each aircraft area holds its own awards ceremony. Other awards are also made to recognize those who are contributors to EAA or aviation.  Many of those awards are announced during evening programs at Theater in the Woods.  See the daily schedule for exact times and locations.
