The Brown Arch is a historical area, almost a "right of passage" for new attendees and return visitors as well, creating an emotional passage through the arch. The tribute area will be located between Wittman Road and the flightline, and the bricks that will be offered will be on the west side of the arch. EAA will use the bricks by the throat of the design to share a message – a Welcome to the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The plaque inscription will be "The Gateway to Aviation."

The design will be symmetrical in nature and include 1,760 pavers (2’x2’). The majority of the tribute bricks will be positioned within the main design element, on the west side of the arch, with "spill-over bricks" spreading out a short distance towards the main pedestrian thoroughfare. A bi-wing design will be used in the center of the tribute area, with wing span running North/South, parallel to the runway. The center of the propeller will be used as the historical marker – the plate recording the distance from Kitty Hawk.
The design consists of 3,000 tribute bricks, available for purchase in three options – whole slab for $1,000, half slab for $600, or quarter slab for $350. Within the design is a bi-wing area made up of 102 bricks, available for $2,000 per brick. And, a limited number of bricks placed within the “cowling” of the design will be available for $10,000 in the center monument area. Bricks purchased at the $1,000 or $2,000 level can choose the actual location of your brick, and bricks purchased by July 12 will be inscribed and placed by AirVenture 2009.
A limited number of commemorative brick benches will also be available for $2,500 each, located throughout the AirVenture grounds. Two will be located at the Brown Arch tribute area, and the other locations will be mutually agreed upon.
