to AirVenture Friday night. |
EAA
Warbirds of America and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) have
partnered to bring actor/director/musician Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan
Band to EAA AirVenture for a special concert performance on Friday,
August 1, at 7:30 p.m.
EAA
members, volunteers, and AirVenture attendees will be treated to a
rousing rock-and-roll show as part of the regular evening program at the
Theater in the Woods.
Sinise is
best known for his character Detective Mac Taylor on the CBS series CSI:
NY and Lt. Dan Taylor in the feature film Forrest Gump. His
credits also include feature film hits Apollo 13, The Green
Mile, and Ransom.
Building
on the popularity of the film Forrest Gump and the character Lt.
Dan, Sinise has assembled a group of talented musicians and has toured
extensively with the USO in recent years.
EAA
Warbirds of America salutes Gary’s involvement with the USO and shares
his enthusiasm for recognizing the sacrifices made by soldiers, sailors,
marines, and airmen.
Warbirds
President Rick Siegfried commented, "We’re very pleased to have
this opportunity to work closely with the DAV and present the Lt. Dan
Band concert at AirVenture 2008. Our members share a patriotic link with
Gary Sinise—a deep appreciation for the job our military does on our
behalf. It’s a natural fit to have the Lt. Dan Band and the DAV be
part of the ‘AirVenture experience.’"
The DAV has presented
Sinise with the prestigious DAV Commander’s Award for his work in
supporting our men and women in the armed forces.
