Congressional leaders visit AirVenture to inform federal policy

Congressional leaders will be on site at AirVenture to discuss key policy issues with members today during a forum at 11:30 a.m. in the Utah Valley University Pavilion 6.

House Aviation Subcommittee members, including Chairman Jerry Costello, will discuss several issues during the forum, including general aviation user fees and the impact that airspace modernization proposals will have on EAA members.

Members of Congress will then tour the grounds and talk with AirVenture visitors about the future of aviation.

EAA leadership will also be outlining the specifics of the proposed changes to the 51 percent rule for members and homebuilders at additional forums; today at 1 p.m. in Honda Pavilion 9; and on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Poly-Fiber Pavilion 10. Proposed changes could impede homebuilding activities.

In addition to these and other forums taking place at AirVenture 2008, learn more about government regulation on the table in Washington by visiting the EAA Welcome Center, and at www.eaa.org/govt.
