On
Wednesday evening EAA’s Theater in the Woods was nearly busting at
the seams as a record number of people filled the seats and
surrounding areas to watch the highly anticipated comedy of Jeff
Dunham.
The
builder of three RotorWay helicopters and a helicopter pilot
himself, Dunham (EAA 379404), along with his chest full of dummies
affectionately known as the "Suitcase Posse," delivered an
unforgettable night of ventriloquist comedy with an aviation twist.
"Jeff
Dunham drew the biggest crowd EAA’s Theater in the Woods has ever
seen," said long-time volunteer Judy Mueller. "Everyone
was very pleased and we heard nothing but good remarks. He even
stayed after the show to sign autographs."
Kicking
off the show with a comical anecdote on how he fell asleep in a
P-51D Mustang earlier in the day while on an air-to-air photo
mission, Dunham captivated the huge crowd early on and continued the
show’s momentum as he brought out famous puppets
"Walter," "Peanut," "Achmed the Dead
Terrorist," and "Jose Jalapeno on a Stick."
"I
couldn’t stop laughing the whole time," said Ryan Chart, who
says he’s previously seen Jeff on television and in DVDs but
thinks his performance in Oshkosh was his best yet. "Seeing
Walter live was simply awesome."
Jeff Dunham has
appeared on "Late Night with David Letterman" as well as
"The Tonight Show, Starring Jay Leno," and possesses four
of 20 top-rated clips of all time on YouTube.com. In addition, DVDs
of Dunham performances have sold more than 2 million copies. For
