Piper Aircraft's new PiperJet will make its air show debut at AirVenture.

Piper Aircraft Inc. has announced plans to bring its new, single-engine jet, the PA-47 PiperJet, to AirVenture Oshkosh this summer, which the company says will be the first time the aircraft will appear at an air show.

"We're looking forward to bringing the PiperJet to Oshkosh this year and giving everyone an early look at what it can do," said Bob Kromer, Piper's vice president of sales & marketing.

"This will be the first time the PiperJet will have been in an air show, and we are excited about showcasing its capabilities and putting it through its paces."

The aircraft was first announced in October 2006 at the NBAA Convention. It has six seats standard with an optional seventh (if you forego the lavatory), cruises at 360 ktas with a full-fuel payload of 800 lbs, and operates at 35,000 feet MSL with a range of 1,300 nm.

Power is derived from the FADEC-controlled Williams International FJ44-3AP turbofan engine. The airplane will also have flight into known icing (FIKI) capability.

The price tag: $2.199 million (in 2006 dollars with CPI-W escalator). Deliveries are scheduled to begin next year.

FUTURE AIRVENTURE DATES: 2014: July 28-Aug. 3; 2015: July 20-26; 2016: July 25-31; 2017: July 24-30
