July 27, 2009 - Oshkosh, Wisconsin - As
part of the Tuesday air show the world’s largest civilian airliner,
Airbus’s A380, will perform a flight demonstration upon its arrival here
at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2009. The air show begins at 2:15 p.m.
A380s can carry as many as 850 passengers
in an all-economy configuration and approximately 525 in a typical
three-class layout. Carriers already now flying the A380—Emirates
Airlines, Qantas Airlines, and Singapore Airlines—have opted for more
luxurious configurations with seats numbering in the 450-500 range,
including suites with lie-flat recliners.
The aircraft coming here to EAA AirVenture
is in a flight-test configuration, and for the first time Airbus will
offer walk-through tours of the plane’s interior, a great opportunity to
view a unique and different part of the airliner development process. EAA
AirVenture attendees will have the opportunity to walk through both the
main deck and the full-length upper deck. Tour hours run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday.
Other opportunities to learn about this
unique aircraft include a presentation by the crew at Theater in the Woods
at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and plane-side presentations by flight crew members
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning.
The A380 will again perform a flight
demonstration as part of the Friday air show as it departs EAA AirVenture.
Friday’s air show begins at 2:30 p.m.
