July 29, 2009 - Oshkosh, Wisconsin
- With 25 years of producing kits for homebuilders under its wings,
Lancair International marked the occasion by announcing the first flight
of a customer- built Turbine Evolution and the appearance of two factory
examples at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2009.
The company is staging its own Turbine
Evolution at nearby Fond du Lac Airport for demonstration work, while the
first Piston Evolution sits at the company display to show customers and
prospects. The piston version marks the first original equipment
manufacturer use of Lycoming’s new TEO-540-EXP twin-turbocharger engine
with iE2 single- lever power control.
Both Evolution models offer owners the comfort
of a pressurized cabin, allcomposite construction, and great speed,
efficiency, and utility. Panel options include Avidyne’s new Entegra
Release 9 integrated panel and the G900X suite from Garmin.
The airframe can also accommodate a BRS
whole-plane parachute system for added security, as well energy-absorbing
seats and airbag seat belts.
