Elton Eisele, director of the EAA AirVenture Concert Band, during the 2009 performance.

For the past three years, the EAA AirVenture Concert Band, under the direction of Elton Eisele, delighted many EAAers with evening performances at the Theater in the Woods. This summer approximately 90 volunteer musicians will do it again, extending their love of flight to share their love of music during a Wednesday, July 28, performance to open that evening's program. Those wishing to be a part of the band can register now through April 30, 2010, by completing the registration form located here.

The tentative schedule is similar to past years; band members will gather for rehearsals at 8 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Nature Center, then perform on Wednesday evening. All musicians will receive sheet music in June so they can learn the music at home to prepare for AirVenture.

For those members who play large instruments, Eisele has again partnered with Henri's Music of Oshkosh, which will drop off and pick up rental instruments. Cost is $50 for the rental. Since some of the larger instruments are in limited supply, members should contact Henri's at 800-838-1535 as soon as possible to make a reservation.

There are no auditions, and seating is determined through the application procedure. Size of the band will be between 80 to 90 members, determined by instrumentation. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Further information will be sent to band members at a later date.

FUTURE AIRVENTURE DATES: 2014: July 28-Aug. 3; 2015: July 20-26; 2016: July 25-31; 2017: July 24-30
