FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt will
present the 2010 National General Aviation Awards tonight in a special
ceremony at Theater in the Woods.
This is the 47th year for the awards,
which recognize top aviation professionals in the fields of flight
instruction, aviation maintenance, avionics, and safety for their
contributions to aviation, education, and flight safety. Here are the
2010 recipients.
Neil Nederfield, Lafayette, New Jersey,
Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) of the Year – selected from the
Teterboro FSDO/FAA’s Eastern Region; Kirk Peterson, Larimore, North
Dakota, Avionics Technician of the Year, selected from the Fargo FSDO
area and the Great Lakes Region; Jeff Moss, Los Angeles, California,
Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) of the Year, selected from the Van
Nuys FSDO area and the FAA’s Western Pacific Region; and Tom Turner,
Rose Hill, Kansas, FAA Safety Team Representative of the Year
(previously Aviation Safety Counselor of the Year), selected from the
Wichita FSDO area and the FAA’s Central Region.
The awards program is a cooperative
effort between the FAA and more than a dozen industry sponsors including
EAA.
“These awards highlight the important
role played by these individuals in promoting aviation education and
flight safety,” said JoAnn Hill, General Aviation Awards Committee
chairperson. “The awards program sponsors are pleased that these
outstanding aviation professionals will receive the recognition they so
richly deserve before their peers in Oshkosh.”
Included in the prize package for all
four award winners is an all expense paid trip to Oshkosh for the
recipient and a guest to attend the awards presentation and other GA
Awards activities.
Come out tonight and show your support
for these elite general aviation professionals!
