Concorde
Battery Corporation this week announced a new aviation battery
specifically designed to meet the needs of light-sport aircraft. The
company’s new offering, the RG-12LSA, is a recombinant gas,
maintenance-free, sealed lead-acid battery that won’t spill at any
altitude or attitude and never needs water or electrolyte.
According to the company, the RG-12LSA
can be shipped without incurring additional hazardous materials charges
and features heavy, eight-millimeter terminal bolts fabricated from
corrosion-free silicon bronze. Its absorbed glass mat (AGM) design
minimizes vibration-related problems. Concorde says the battery is
designed for optimized the heavy loads imposed by engine starts rather
than relatively low-current continuous operation required by avionics
and accessories.
Overall dimensions of this low
resistance, valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery are 7.5 inches
(7.71 inches over the top seam) long by 4.97 inches (5.18 inches over
the top seam) wide, and 4.56 inches tall, overall. Concorde’s RG-12LSA
batteries will begin shipping in October 2010.

Booth 2053-54, in Hangar B, or visit the company’s Web site, www.ConcordeBattery.com.
