Are you interested in flying but concerned
with the cost of conventional aircraft or a private pilot certificate?
The LSA Mall, located near the
intersection of Waukau Avenue and James Ray Blvd., gives visitors to EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh the opportunity to peruse a wide selection of
light-sport aircraft (LSA), learn more about the sport pilot
certificate, and discover affordable ways to take to the sky—all in
one central location.
Featuring 17 different light-sport
aircraft in 2010, the LSA Mall features aircraft ranging from Piper
Aircraft’s new PiperSport introduced in January to a classic J-3 Cub
on floats.
Other aircraft in the mall include a
Tecnam P92 Echo Classic, Navigator 600, M-Squared Breese 2, Progressive
Aerodyne SeaRey, Lightning LS-1, Flight Design CTLS, REMOS GX, and an
FK-9.
Randee Laskewitz of the Light Aircraft
Manufacturers Association (LAMA) said the traffic to the LSA Mall has
improved over last year.
“People know where to find us now that
we’ve been in the same location for two years,” she explained.
“We’ve seen a lot of interest in the
light-sport category, and the exhibitors have been happy with the
quality of people they’ve talked to this year.
“Our mission is to introduce the public to the light-sport category of
airplanes,” said Laskewitz.
“We hope to accomplish that by offering
informational materials on LSA and showcasing different LSA styles and
models from a variety of manufacturers.”
Those materials, located in the main LSA
Mall tent, cover topics such as sport pilot/light-sport aircraft (SP/LSA)
regulations, the sport pilot certificate,
and aircraft partnerships. There’s even a chance to win an Apple iPad
loaded with four aviation-based apps.
Each exhibitor in the LSA Mall also has a
main exhibit on-site. To find a specific exhibitor visit the EAA Welcome
Center located near AeroShell Square or visit www.AirVenture.org/schedule.
