FedEx, a leader in providing customers and businesses worldwide with a broad portfolio of transportation, e-commerce and business services, will present country star Aaron Tippin in concert at EAA AirVenture 2011 on Saturday, July 30.
Tippin's energetic performance will kick off a memorable final evening at the "World's Greatest Aviation Celebration."
For years, FedEx has been a preferred shipping provider on the AirVenture grounds, serving more than 40,000 residents who call Camp Scholler home for the convention and the more than 500,000 who annually attend.
"In our nearly 40 years of flying, we at FedEx have seen how aviation has changed the world for the better, bringing people, businesses and countries closer together," said Michael Pigors, FedEx Express senior vice president. "That's why we're so pleased to be supporting EAA AirVenture Oshkosh as it celebrates the spirit of flight and brings the aviation community closer together."
Following the expanded "Warbirds Extravaganza" afternoon air show, Tippin will take to the Theater in the Woods stage at approximately 7 p.m. for a concert featuring many of his hits, including "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagles Fly," "You've Got to Stand for Something," and "Kiss This." Tippin's appearance is part of the Commemorative Air Force's "Red, White & Loud Tour" and coincides with the much-anticipated return of CAF's FIFI, the world's only airworthy B-29 "Superfortress," to AirVenture after a 16-year absence.
"Thanks to the support of FedEx, we are able to deliver a wide variety of entertainment options to bring the AirVenture community together," said Tom Poberezny, EAA and AirVenture chairman. "Aaron Tippin is a friend to aviation and is sure to provide a fun atmosphere that the whole family will enjoy."
A highly experienced pilot himself, Tippin soloed for the first time on his 16th birthday. He became a commercial multi-engine, instrument-rated pilot by age 18 and also holds helicopter ratings. A certified aircraft and power plant mechanic, he owns a 1941 Stearman, 1946 J3 Cub, and 1959 Helio Courier.
Tippin, a platinum recording artist, has become one of the most recognizable and influential voices in country music over the past two decades. With 13 albums to his name and more than 30 charted singles, he performs nearly 200 dates each year. For more information, visit his website.
