Throughout EAA AirVenture 2011, numerous festivities will honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and active military personnel who put their lives on the line defending freedom. Thousands of these brave men and women will be on hand to celebrate this memorable week.
On Friday, July 29, as part of that day's veterans' salute activities, all veterans and active military personnel can display their pride at with a free "Salute to Veterans" commemorative hat, courtesy of Oshkosh Corporation, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and EAA Warbirds of America.
Additionally, Scotts Miracle-Gro will be offering a free commemorative pin to veterans and active military personnel throughout AirVenture. Scotts is the presenting sponsor of the popular Scotts Warbird Alley on the AirVenture grounds.
Hats (on July 29 only) and pins are available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a pickup location adjacent to the wayfinding tower in the Warbirds area, while supplies last. Veterans and active military personnel must be present in order to receive the hat and the pin.
When you see this hat or commemorative pin roaming the AirVenture grounds, be sure to thank the hero wearing it.
