Young Eagles raffle winners take delivery of new Mustang GT
Mustang winners
EAA President/CEO Rod Hightower hands over the keys to the Mustang GT convertible to Carl Gjefle and Jodie Streeter, winners of the 2011 Young Eagle Raffle grand prize.

Right before the air show on Thursday, July 28, Carl Gjefle and Jodie Streeter, of Englewood, Colorado, went 50-50 on an EAA Young Eagles Raffle ticket, then Jodie went over by the gleaming new Mustang convertible on display and kissed it for good luck.

“Yeah, I kissed the bumper after buying the ticket,” Jodie said as she, Carl, and Carl’s son, Brady, arrived Monday afternoon to take delivery of their grand prize, a 2011 Ford Mustang GT convertible provided courtesy of Ford Motor Company and Kocourek Ford, of Wausau, Wisconsin.

They attended AirVenture Thursday and Friday, then left for La Crosse, Wisconsin, where Jodie’s family lives. Jodie, a private pilot, went on a B-17 flight with her father, Robert Streeter, EAA 277027, of DeSoto, Wisconsin. They were preparing to leave for Colorado on Sunday afternoon when at about 4:45 they received a call informing them that theirs was the winning ticket drawn at the close of AirVenture 2011.

“We couldn’t believe it,” Carl said. So instead of heading west, they turned back east to Oshkosh to pick up their prize. EAA President/CEO Rod Hightower was there to present them with their new car in front of the EAA Aviation Center.

Having discovered the “secret” to winning the raffle, we’re wondering: Will there be a line of folks at the Young Eagles Raffle booth next year waiting to kiss the bumper of the 2012 grand prize?
