| New videos show what pilots can expect to see when flying into Oshkosh. |
Are you flying into Oshkosh for AirVenture this year? EAA has a set of new videos that can help pilots - whether they're first-timers or experienced attendees - who are planning to fly to Wittman Regional Airport for the convention this year. The videos show "real world" examples of the VFR Fisk Arrival, including approach routes to both major Oshkosh runways, a go-around, and a VFR departure.
The videos were made on the opening day of AirVenture 2011 using EAA's Young Eagles Glastar, flown by the two volunteer pilots who are responsible for producing the annual AirVenture NOTAM: Rick Polete, the air traffic manager at the FAA Evansville, Indiana, Air Traffic Control Tower, and Fred Stadler, volunteer pilot at EAA's Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh.
Actual radio transmissions were recorded, along with hints and tips about using the AirVenture NOTAM procedures. While every flight can be different, these videos can help pilots know what to expect when flying to AirVenture during a busy arrival time.
Another pilot resource for flying into Oshkosh is a free EAA webinar scheduled for Thursday, June 21. "Flying Into AirVenture" features Stadler describing the Oshkosh VFR arrival procedures in detail. There will also be a question and answer period. Register for the webinar
