What happens when you combine the World's Greatest Aviation Celebration with the world's largest online community? You get a Facebook page where thousands aviation nuts are staying connected to EAA AirVenture 2012.
From dawn until dusk during AirVenture, EAA online community manager Hal Bryan is sharing photos, news, updates, and announcements from him and other EAA staff canvassing the massive grounds.
The goal is to share the experience with aviation enthusiasts around the world - whether they're checking in on their smartphones in Camp Scholler or living vicariously from across the globe through the steady stream of photos and updates. Facebook has more than 800 million users worldwide.
"This is my 15th convention, and I have to say that I love the experience now more than ever," Bryan said. "Being able to share my real-time 'geek's-eye-view' of the people and the airplanes around the grounds with such an engaged and appreciative audience is an absolute blast."
Unlike traditional publishing, Facebook lets people comment, engage directly with EAA and other members, and share photos and stories of their own. You can also engage with others by commenting on news stories (like this one) through the Facebook feedback feature below. Each engagement expands AirVenture's reach and helps grow aviation
If you are here in Oshkosh, feel free to snap a few photos of your AirVenture experience and share it on our Facebook page. And if you can't make it this year (but promise to be here next year), we'll keep on posting those great photos that you "like."
