Andy Werback, EAA 699040, of Sebastopol, California, spent approximately 2,000 hours over two years in building his Lancair Legacy, a Kit Built Grand Champion in 2012.

May 23, 2013 - Each year aviators from around the world prepare their aircraft for judging at AirVenture, hoping that theirs will receive a coveted EAA Lindy award for being selected as the "best of the best."

This year EAA is inviting all past champions to attend AirVenture for the Return of Champions - a weeklong celebration of award-winning aircraft from the past several decades.

Owners of past Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion aircraft are cordially invited to participate in the Return of Champions festivities. Returning champions will receive a complimentary weekly wristband, special display signage, and commemorative plaque.

These Oshkosh icons will be spotlighted through daily aerial performances and special parking displays on Phillips 66 Plaza as well as in their respective areas. Phillips 66 Plaza will also host special Champions in Review sessions daily Monday through Saturday, featuring select champions from the various judging categories.

Past champions wanting to be a part of the Return of Champions festivities are asked to RSVP.

FUTURE AIRVENTURE DATES: 2014: July 28-Aug. 3; 2015: July 20-26; 2016: July 25-31; 2017: July 24-30
