How does this thing work?
Hopefully, you are here because you want to buy tickets to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010. Although we have constructed this web site and process to be as user friendly as possible, we understand that anyone can have questions.
If you have a computer, printer, and Internet access, you can select the event you want to attend and the number of tickets you want to purchase. After supplying payment information, you print the tickets. When you attend AirVenture, a scanner reads your ticket, you pick up your wristbands and enter. It's that simple!
The key to the ticket you print is the two-dimensional barcode. All the human readable information on the face of the ticket is encrypted and then encoded into this barcode. It also contains a unique identifying number called a digital signature. This digital signature is evidence of payment for the ticket you have printed. When your ticket is scanned, the digital signature on your ticket is compared to the one we recorded. If it is valid, you are admitted. If the digital signature is not valid for that event, admittance is denied.
Because it is an Evidence of Payment, you must treat the ClicknPrint™ ticket with the same level of respect you have for traditional tickets. Don't make copies of the ticket or deface it in any way.
How do I buy a ticket?
You'll first be making a choice to buy your tickets at EAA member rates or at general public rates. If you are not a member you can choose to join EAA and buy your tickets at member rates in a single transaction. EAA members will be asked to verify membership by 'signing in'. EAA members and those wishing to join EAA will choose between weekly tickets or daily tickets. General public tickets are available only as daily tickets. You’ll be choosing from various tickets types for you, your family members and guests. There are 6 easy, self-explanatory steps to purchase a ticket. Once you have selected the tickets you wish to purchase, you will have 15 minutes to complete the purchase transaction.
- Selecting your ticket type
- Entering the name of the ticket holder(s) and choosing a PIN
- Confirming your purchase
- Entering your payment information
- WRITING DOWN YOUR TRANSACTION ID
- Printing your Ticket
IMPORTANT : Write down your Transaction ID and PIN and keep them in a secure place. You will need both your Transaction ID and PIN to transfer tickets, access unprinted tickets, or recover lost or stolen tickets.
When you purchase tickets, you will be sent an email confirmation of your purchase. This email confirmation will include your Transaction ID and PIN. Please print this email and save it in a secure place. These numbers are used for security checks in transferring tickets or recovering tickets that have been lost or stolen.
How do I pay for my ticket purchases?
All ticket purchases are paid for by credit card: VISA, Mastercard, American Express or Discover. All credit card information and transactions are secure.
How do I transfer a ticket to someone else?
We give customers the ability to transfer a ticket purchased online to a third party. The process is simple and can save you money and heartache with tickets you can't use or want to share with others. When you purchased tickets, you were assigned a Transaction ID and a PIN.
When you wish to transfer a ticket, go to the Main Page and click on Transfer Tickets. You will be prompted to enter your Transaction ID and your PIN. You will be shown a list of tickets associated with those ID numbers and asked to select the tickets you wish to transfer. You will then be asked to enter the name of the persons to whom you wish to transfer the tickets and that person's email address. Then you enter a 4-digit PIN and click "Transfer." An email containing a "link" will be sent to the party to whom you are transferring the tickets. When the email is received the new owner clicks on the link, and is taken to the Main Page. The recipient then clicks on "Print Tickets Transferred to You," and will then be prompted to enter the Transaction ID and PIN as security checks. If the information is entered correctly, the new ticket holder is then prompted to print out the ticket that has been transferred.
Remember, the old ticket has been canceled and cannot be used. If it is presented at the venue, it will be invalid. If a ticket is transferred, the new user must meet all the requirements of that ticket. For instance, if an adult EAA-member ticket is transferred, the new user must have a valid EAA membership and present their membership card at the gate at the time of admission. Also, a student ticket bearer must meet the original age restrictions of the ticket.
What do I do if I lose my ticket (or my dog eats my ticket )?
When you purchased tickets, you were assigned a Transaction ID and you selected a PIN. When you wish to have a ticket re-issued because you have lost or misplaced it, go to the Main Page and click on "Reissue tickets that have been lost or stolen." You will be prompted to enter your Transaction ID and your PIN. The system will then invalidate the ticket that was lost or stolen and create a new ticket for you to print. The new ticket will be available for printing as it was when you first purchased it.
The old ticket has been canceled and cannot be used. If it is presented at the venue, it will be invalid.
What is that funny looking square on the ticket?
That would be a two-dimensional bar code. We all have seen one-dimensional bar codes in supermarkets and other stores. They are scanned to get the correct pricing and control inventory. One-dimensional bar codes only contain a small amount of information. The digital signatures (What is a digital signature, and should I care? ), explained below, contains a great deal of information and is required for your ticket to be your self-contained evidence of payment.
In order to get all the data we need into a bar code, we must use a two-dimensional one. There are many types, but we selected the one called a Datamatrix. This is the only code that can be scanned quickly enough to get you through the gate.
The bar code is the heart of the ticket and if modified, will be scanned as invalid. This is to protect against someone copying your ticket and making a small change to the bar code in an attempt to gain entry to the event for which you have purchased a ticket. It simply cannot be done. Aren't you glad we have that funny looking square thing on the ticket?
What is encryption and should I care?
Yes, Virginia, you should care. Encryption is the process by which data (in this case information about you) is jumbled beyond recognition by a computer program. It is not mathematically feasible for any one person to break the encryption algorithms we employ. Encryption allows for secure transmission of your data to the various processing centers (like the Credit Card Authorizers), as well as for protection and evidence (beyond repudiation) of your ticket.
What is a digital signature, and should I care?
We are going to be really brief here. A digital signature is simply a complex number the system generates that ties you to your ticket beyond "repudiation" (that's an industry buzzword that means it mathematically authenticates your identity). The system generates a signature for every ticket. This digital signature is encrypted and encoded within the two-dimensional bar code on your ticket (the funny-looking square).
No, you really should not care. Much like the automatic transmission in your car, we really don't want you to be a mechanic, just a good driver!
What do I do if I forget my Transaction ID or PIN?
When you purchased your tickets, you were sent an email confirmation of your purchase. This email confirmation included your Transaction ID and PIN. Please print this out and save it in a safe place. These numbers are used for security checks in transferring tickets or recovering tickets that have been lost or stolen.
What do I do if my printer jams?
If your printer jams while you are printing your ticket(s), the first thing to do is determine the cause of the printer malfunction. After that, all you need to do is click on PRINT again. Your browser should still contain the image of the ticket(s) you had been printing and can be printed again.
Remember, only the first copy of a ticket scanned at an event will be admitted. Subsequent copies of a single ticket that are scanned will be read as invalid and not admitted.
Do I need any special paper to print the ticket?
No special paper is required to print your ticket - just a good quality paper you probably have in your printer already.
AirVenture Pricing Questions
Are there restrictions if I transfer my ticket to someone else?
If a ticket is transferred, the new user must meet all the requirements of that ticket. For instance, if an adult EAA-member ticket is transferred, the new user must have a valid EAA membership and present their membership card at the gate at the time of admission. Also, a student ticket bearer must meet the original age restrictions of the ticket.
How many guest passes can an EAA member purchase?
As with walk-up sales at AirVenture, an EAA member is allowed to purchase a maximum of two guest passes for each adult member ticket that was purchased. Example – If you purchase 3 member adult daily tickets you would be able to purchase up to 6 daily guest tickets.
You can always purchase an unlimited number of non-member rate tickets.
Can I purchase online tickets for my spouse, children and guests at different times?
Yes. You may purchase your ticket online and then return to the website at a later time to purchase tickets for those people. You will be limited to a total of 2 member-guest tickets and 1 member-spouse ticket for each daily or weekly member ticket that has been purchased.
Do I purchase "Daily" tickets for specific days?
No. A daily ticket purchased online allows for admission to any single day of the event that you choose. This provides flexibility for you should your travel plans change.
May I purchase camping credentials online?
Yes. Drive-in camping in Camp Scholler is available for AirVenture 2010. Please see "Advance Purchase Camping" FAQ section.
Do I need a separate daily ticket to access the grounds on the Sunday (July 25th) before the event starts?
While it is true that you need a wristband to access the grounds on Sunday July 25, 2010, the daily wristband for Monday is actually valid for both Sunday and Monday. Therefore you will only need to redeem one daily advance purchase ticket for a Sunday/Monday wristband. A weekly wristband is valid for admission throughout the entire event.
What is EAA Family Day (Sunday August 1st 2010)?
On the final day of AirVenture (Sunday 8/1/10), student age attendees (age 6-18) will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult (there is no one student per each adult requirement - multiple student age attendees will be admitted with each adult). Since children age 5 and under are already free, families will be able to attend AirVenture at a greatly reduced cost on that day. Sunday features a full air show, all exhibits, museum and of course a full slate of activities at KidVenture.
Privacy Policy
What is your Privacy Policy?
Lately, there has been a lot of concern regarding privacy in e-commerce. We want to address your concerns and explain to you why we ask what we do and how we use that information.
Certain basic information is required to process any credit card purchase: name, address, telephone number, credit card number, and the date of expiration on the card. Usually the address you give must be the same as the one to which credit card bills are sent. This is to ensure YOUR security, so that no unauthorized purchases are made and sent to third parties.
In addition to this basic information, we request your email address, so that we may send you a confirmation of your purchase. This also helps to ensure your security and validate your identity. Remember, this email provides your Transaction ID and PIN!
EAA does not share, rent, or sell the personal contact information of its members, past members or customers with any third party.
Redeeming Your Ticket at AirVenture
How do I redeem this ticket?
When you arrive at AirVenture, have the printed ticket with you. If you are redeeming a member adult daily or weekly ticket be ready to present your current EAA membership card. You may enter the site with your advance purchase ticket at any admissions point. Some admission areas will have a separate line for Advance Purchase Ticket holders to expedite your admission. Look for signs directing you to the proper line. The ticket will be scanned to verify the information so it cannot be used more than one time. You will then be given the appropriate wristband(s) that permit entry to the grounds.
I'm an EAA member. If I purchase my AirVenture admissions online, will I still need to present my membership card when I enter?
Yes. In order to redeem an EAA-member admission ticket, you will need to be a current EAA member at the time of AirVenture. The easiest way to verify membership is to present your current EAA membership card when you redeem the ticket. If you don't have your membership card, your current membership will be validated by the admissions staff upon entry. Tickets purchased online at an EAA-member rate for guests, spouses and children do not require proof of membership upon entry.
Must a EAA member's guest enter with that member?
No. A member-rate guest, spouse or student may redeem the ticket, receive their wristband and enter the grounds without the member present.
What time do the gates open?
The gates open each day at 7 a.m.
Refund Questions
What is EAA's refund policy?
All online admission ticket sales are non-refundable, similar to any ticket you might purchase for a baseball game, concert, etc. However, tickets may be transferred (see "transferring tickets" question above). If an EAA-member admission ticket is transferred, the individual who ultimately uses the ticket must have a valid EAA membership when redeeming the ticket at an AirVenture admission gate. Online camping tickets are refundable (with a 3 night minimum charge) should you purchase in advance and find that you are unable to attend.
What if it rains and the daily air show is cancelled?
While the daily afternoon air show is a highlight of AirVenture, the event encompasses much more than the three-hour air show each afternoon. With hundreds of indoor exhibitors, thousands of unique aircraft, and hundreds of forums and activities for all ages each day, AirVenture continues rain or shine. In case of severe weather that forces evacuation of the grounds prior to the air show, the usual AirVenture policy will apply.
On the Grounds
What can I bring into the grounds with me?
A complete list of allowed and prohibited items is available here. In general, no alcohol is allowed on the event grounds, and no pets are allowed (except service animals).
What benefits are available for EAA members at AirVenture?
The first one will be the ticket in your hand, as EAA members receive the lowest admission rates for themselves, their families and guests. In addition, EAA members also receive a variety of benefits while onsite, including discounts on food and merchandise, as well as other opportunities not available to the general public.
Forgot My Tickets
Oh no! I’ve traveled all the way to Oshkosh and now I can't find my tickets! What do I do?
Remember these tickets should be treated and guarded just as you would treat a ticket to a pro sporting event or a concert – that is, very carefully. There is one option that can still save you, though, that was mentioned previously: When you purchased tickets, you were assigned a Transaction ID and you selected a PIN.
The old ticket will immediately be invalidated and cannot be used. If it is presented at the venue, it will be invalid.
EAA Membership Options
How does the membership offer work for member guest weekly tickets?
For AirVenture 2010, we are pleased to make a special membership offer for EAA members to extend to their guests that are purchasing a Weekly Member Guest ticket. The guest ticket that you will print out can be taken by your guest to EAA's Welcome Center and redeemed for a one year Individual EAA membership. Simply retain the printed ticket after entering the grounds. The offer is only valid for your guest and cannot be used to extend or renew a current member’s membership. This offer can only be redeemed in person at AirVenture 2010.
I'm not an EAA member but want to join and purchase at member rates – how does that work?
By clicking on the "Join Now and Buy" button you will be joining EAA and purchasing your AirVenture tickets in one simple step. You will choose either daily or weekly tickets and either choice will include a $40 EAA Individual membership. That membership allows you to purchase AirVenture tickets for you and your immediate family at greatly reduced member rates. EAA membership provides the tools and resources to help you get the most from your passion for aviation.
Recent Changes to AirVenture Pricing
I thought there used to be non-member weekly tickets available?
In past years there were non-member weekly tickets available. In 2009 these were eliminated to save the buyer some money. In almost all cases it is significantly less expensive for a non-member to join EAA and purchase a member rate weekly ticket. Non members not wishing to join and save may purchase any number of daily tickets.
What happened to the youth priced tickets?
In order to simplify pricing the youth and student tickets was collapsed into one level.
Advance Purchase Camping (Camp Scholler only)
Why buy advance purchase camping?
Advance purchase of camping allows for a faster registration process upon arrival at Camp Scholler. Upon arriving at Camp Scholler you will be directed to an express camping registration line bypassing the normal registration lines.
Why is advance purchase camping only available for drive-in camping in Camp Scholler?
The primary reason is that while aircraft camping is normally available there are times when space is not available at Wittman Regional Airport. We simply cannot guarantee availability and do not want to sell camping that might not be able to be used.
Why are only certain arrival days available for advance purchase camping?
The objective for advance purchase camping is to deliver enhanced convenience during the arrival and registration process. During the heaviest arrival days there can be lines for registration. We do everything we can to move these lines through the registration process as efficiently as possible, but wait times often do exist. Processing an advance purchase transaction is much quicker, as we have seen at the admission gates. We now have the opportunity to offer that same convenience for campers.
never camped at AirVenture, so how does the camping pricing really work?
The price of your camping is based on the day you arrive. You pay upfront for camping through the end of the event (Sunday, August 1). When you leave simply stop at the main camping gate and you will receive a refund for any unused days after a 3 night minimum is applied. Check out time each day is 12 noon.
When I buy advance purchase camping for a specific arrival date – what happens if I arrive on a different day?
When you purchase a specific arrival date that becomes the first day that you are eligible to stay in Camp Scholler. If you arrive earlier you will be asked to pay for the additional days.
Is advance purchase camping non-refundable like advance purchase admission tickets?
Unlike admission tickets, advance purchase camping is refundable should you not be able to attend. Refunds will be provided less a 3 night minimum charge ($66). If you are unable to attended, send your ticket information to:
EAA Camper Refund
Attn: Rich James
PO Box 3086
Oshkosh, WI 54903
In addition, advance purchase camping may also be transferred to someone else provided that they are an EAA member. See above for details.
When I buy advance purchase camping am I reserving a specific location?
No, you are not reserving any specific space. Campsites are available on a first come, first served basis. Each campsite is approximately 20' x 30' in size.
Do I need to be a member to camp in Camp Scholler?
