Ed Jarosz a.k.a. "The Stud"
Ed is our Carpenter in arms, helping to improve the original studios of EAA Radio in 2004. When broadcasts first started in 1997 in EAA Radio’s current building the interviews were conducted in what is now the control room which was small and uncomfortable. In 2004 EAA Radio switched to a two-room broadcast configuration leaving the control board in one room and the interviews in another. This required the door of the control room to be moved and a counter top to be installed to set the new control board in.
Ed would masterfully accomplish this and other tasks since that year including shelving, a new window between the forum studio and the newly acquired production studio, and knocking a hole in the wall for a window air conditioner for the production studio. In 2008 Ed’s skills would be called upon for the ultimate task as EAA Radio expanded upstairs. A new interview studio features: A 360-degree view of the field, air conditioning, and modern broadcast accoutrements. “The Tower” studio is now complete and will debut its operations during AirVenture 2008.
Ed has been volunteering at AirVenture since 1992. He has supported operations at the Sea Plane Base, First-Aid Station, and most recently at EAA Radio. Ed owns a Beech Musketeer which used to be based at OSH. You can see Ed flying Young Eagles during AirVenture 2008. Ed has been a firefighter for the Green Bay Fire Department for 22 years and lives in Appleton.
