Eric Whyte a.k.a. "Weasel"

The story of Weasel is quite close to that of legend although not quite. He was not raised by wolves, but his formative summers were spent at EAA Oshkosh, like many of the EAA Radio brethren. Born and raised in suburban Milwaukee his father a longtime volunteer at Oshkosh and EAA Chapter 18, Milwaukee (the original EAA Chapter).

His life would be filled with airplanes as he "grew up" at Captiol Drive Airport where Paul Poberezny built a hangar and EAA Chapter 11 still holds meetings. This EAA education gave Weasel a special talent for knowing everything about every homebuilt ever built, every one in construction and those being considered. Being a convention brat lo those many years he also developed a reputation as a prankster or "grenade" tosser; Setting the trap but not being around for the explosion. One of those grenades was tossed at EAA Communications Chairman Ron Scott involving numerous copies of a 1970 issue of Sport Aviation, several beautiful women that wouldn't necessarily take an interest in Mr. Scott, and an autograph pen. After finding out who was behind the chicanery Ron was said to remark, "Why that little..." and the legend was born.

Weasel is a 25 year volunteer with EAA. Along with DA Swede, he founded and stil chairs the AirVenture Cup race. Weasel is a 2002 EAA Presidents Award recipient, served as a board member, Vice-president and president of EAA Chapter 18, was one of the first graduates of the EAA Air Academy, and was the first Young Eagle to fly another Young Eagle. Weasel flies a Citation Sovreign for a national fractional ownership company. He is typed in the Citation Sovreign, Citation III, Citation 5, and the Beechjet. Weasel lives in suburban Milwaukee with his wife Sarah.
