The Green Gang
EAA Radio is a division of the EAA Communications Center. The "Comm Center" keeps AirVenture in the know. The Green Gang is a group of long-time dedicated volunteers that maintain and operate the public address system on the flightline and on-site telephone network. They also provide smaller PA systems around the grounds, and manage the myriad of communication radios issued to the numerous convention chairpersons needed to make AirVenture fly smooth.
EAA Radio would not exist without these dedicated folks in green. The subterranean communications network was conceived and implemented by Green Gangers much in the way EAA Radio began; through an intense desire to make AirVenture a better experience each year. Green expertise by Larry “MacGyver” Macowiak, Jim Livingston, Wilbur Hisch, and the late Bill Fobes (the original EAA Radio equipment fairy) has helped EAA Radio grow from the humblests of beginnings. EAA Radio has also received critical and unwavering support from Communications Center Chairman Ron Scott. You can read about his longtime contributions to AirVenture here.
Green Gang members are represented before Comm Center managment by the Green Gang Union Steward Afterburner Al.
