Mel Futrell a.k.a. "Magneto Mel"

Mel gives EAA Radio a female and intelligent touch. Afterburner Al happened upon Mel as she worked for EAA’s Protect Our Planes. Mel needed a public service message imploring attendees to respect the personal space of the airplanes parked on the field. Al invited Mel to the studios to record the script and she never left. Mel holds several advanced degrees that focus on culture, communication, applied psychology, and human factors engineering. She continues to chase a doctorate as well. Mel is also an active associate member of the Deaf Pilots Association, volunteering considerable time as an advocate to raise awareness among the aviation community-at-large.

Mel holds a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating, as well as an advanced ground instructor certificate. She recently worked for the FAA on a one-year project conducting human factors research and lives in North Hollywood, CA.
